Public speaking classes

At Pollokshields Burgh Hall we have 2 public speaking classes one held fortnightly on a Monday evening by POWERtalk the other is held the 2nd & 4th Thursday of every month by Southside Speakers.

POWERtalk

Good communication and leadership skills are built on confidence, clarity of thought and expression, and the ability to listen. They are skills that we all need to call upon in our everyday lives, whether we are taking part in a conversation over dinner, voicing an opinion at a business meeting or delivering a speech at a reception.

You may have been on a public speaking course, had presentation skill training or read many books on effective communication skills, but the only way to improve your skills is by practice. POWERtalk gives you the opportunity to practise in a friendly, supportive atmosphere, where you are given coaching by means of constructive feedback and advice.

Meetings are held on Monday evenings, fortnightly at 7.00 p.m. in the Loggia Room.

Southside Speakers

Southside Speakers is a Public Speaking club located on the south side of Glasgow and is a member of Toastmasters International, a not for profit worldwide organization to help people develop their Public Speaking and Leadership skills.

So whether its that important presentation at work, a best man's speech, a local community meeting or its simply to overcome one of our most basic fears why not come along and see for yourself what Toastmasters can do for you. We have over 200 clubs scattered throughout Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales.

Guests are always welcome and you may be amazed by what you learn and who knows you may find your voice. You are welcome to come to our meetings as a guest, or to join as a new member. There is no pressure to speak until you feel ready.

Meetings have a friendly and supportive atmosphere. There's no dress code, so just come along as you are.

Meetings are held the 2nd & 4th Thursday of every month 7pm - 9.30pm. All over 18's Welcome!
