Role: Caretaker x2

Location: Pollokshields Burgh Hall Trust, G41 4LL

Contract type: Zero hours, Permanent (on completion of probationary period)

Shift patterns: Variable/evening and weekend

Salary: £10 per hour

Benefits: Nest pension scheme and holiday entitlement pro rata

Pollokshields Burgh Hall Trust (PBH) are recruiting now for 2 caretaking staff and welcome applications from individuals with a strong customer service background who are also experienced in working at a range of events, large and small. Having a positive attitude with a conscientious and pragmatic approach to work duties is essential. These include but are not limited to:

  • liaising with clients, guests, visitors and contractors
  • monitoring security of building for the safety of guests and suppliers working on site
  • setting up of wedding ceremonies/furniture and facilities for functions and other lets
  • monitoring client use of building in line with Trust policies
  • clearing down post event including some light cleaning duties (cleaning work surfaces, sweeping floors and emptying bins)
  • general maintenance tasks

This post will require some physical labour as you will be tasked with moving tables, chairs and other equipment around the building in line with event specifications. Some DIY skills would be desirable. As the shifts are variable and evening and weekend shifts offered, flexibility and own transport is required. Full training pertinent to the role will be provided.

PBH is managed by a Board of Trustees who volunteer their time to ensure the preservation of this beautiful historic building. Many private events are hosted here and are we are particularly busy with weddings throughout the year. PBH has recently been awarded Best Historic Wedding Venue 2019 by Luxury Travel Magazine and is a favourite of many newly engaged couples in the Southside of Glasgow and beyond.
