"Held in Trust for the Community"

Pollokshields Burgh Hall Trust Ltd. is a community led organisation which was set up in 1991, specifically for the purposes of the redevelopment of the Burgh Halls, bringing the Halls back into the heart of the Pollokshields community. After a massive renovation, with funding from Heritage Lottery Fund XXX and XXX, the renovated Halls were officially re-opened by the Duke of Gloucester on XXXX 1991

Further works took place to develop the Lower Ground Floor in 1997 and the adjacent Lodge Houses were fully refurbished in 2018 to provide accommodation for clients of the Halls.

Contributing to the Future

Have you considered joining the Board of a local charity? You might be surprised about how rewarding the experience can be and how much you have to offer. A board role provides an opportunity to support the local community and gain valuable experience.

The Trust  is looking for new members who may be local or otherwise have an interest in supporting the community in Pollokshields. We welcome interest from all backgrounds and experience.

What difference will you make?
You will be part of the team working to preserve the historic building on a sustainable, self-financing basis.
The Trust generates a level of self-funding by hiring the Halls out, principally for Weddings and Functions. We are always looking for ways in which we can build up our services and be of use to the community and we would like energetic and committed people to join us on the board to help drive the future. There are many opportunities available to the Halls but in order to ensure we meet our charitable objectives, care must be taken that the cost of implementing these do not outweigh the benefits.

  • Formal, early-evening board meetings are held every 3 months, with various ad-hoc and topical sub-committees meeting in between.

  • What are we looking for?

  • It is not essential to fit into one of these categories, but we are particularly looking for experience of:

  • Finance

  • Fundraising

  • Property Management

  • Commercial Management

  • Community Engagement

  • Volunteer Management

  • Trustee posts are voluntary, although any necessary expenses related to your duties as a trustee will be paid.

  • Email your CV with a cover letter telling us how you can contribute to Chairman Gavin Smith at office@pbhalls.co.uk
